Prosperie initially put her propagation skills to work growing?250,000 loblolly pines (Pinus taeda) for the Texas A&M Forest Service restoration of Bastrop County, which was devastated by wildfires in 2011. She collaborated with?hundreds of volunteers from the Wildflower Center and many other organizations on this project.
Most recently, Susan has been growing milkweed plants native to Texas (Asclepias spp.) to help the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service engage Texas growers in the use of local ecotypes. Throughout her work, she has had the opportunity to grow many species of Texas native plants.
Susan holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s in biology from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
